The RX8200 receivers offers a vast and sophisticated array of configuration possibilities allowing it to
cover a broad range of applications. The RX8200 can be tailored to standard definition or high definition uses with MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 decode technology in both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 modes whilst connectivity into the receiver is achieved with DVB-S2 satellite, IP and ASI options. The high-powered processing capabilities of the RX8200 enable the unit to be simply and easily upgraded in the field with additional software options to increment the functionality at any point after initial installation.
The RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver offers the user total connectivity through the capability to provide satellite, IP and ASI transport stream inputs, all within a single unit. With this flexibility the
user is confident that their initial receiver investment is capable of adapting to a fast changing industry.
The RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver offers ultimate bandwidth efficiency for satellite transmissions by incorporating the option for the new DVB-S2 Extensions (DVB-S2X) standard. DVB-S2X offers up to 20% bit rate efficiency for typical video applications, which when combined with MPEG-4 transmission means RX8200, as part of an Ericsson end-to-end Contribution or Distribution system can offer more channels or better quality video or less bandwidth occupancy than any other competing solution.
As a true multi-format decoder, the RX8200 can offer MPEG-4 AVC 4:2:0 High Definition decoding allowing broadcasters to reap the benefits from the 50% bit rate savings compared to MPEG-2; and with more and more contribution feeds also making a similar move from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC in the 4:2:2 world the RX8200 also meets those needs.
