AVP 4000 Device Roles and EI9001/EI9001T Card Roles
Card Roles defines specific functions which are enabled (or limited) for that card. There are three defined card roles:
• Broadcast.
• Encode/Decode.
• ABR.
Broadcast Card Role
The Broadcast card role performs the following functions:
• Default card role for EI9001(T) card.
• Supports encode and transcode functionality.
• Supports secondary and PiP encoding.
• All profile and buffer modes (incl. VBR and CBR) are supported, unless they are specifically for ABR use only.
• ABR outputs and 4:2:2 decode are not supported.
Encode/Decode Card Role
The Encode/Decode card role performs the following functions:
• Supports both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 decode.
• Supports video outputs to adjacent cards in a chassis.
• ABR outputs, Seamless mode and Capped VBR modes are not supported.
• SD secondary encoding supported for MPEG-2 only.
ABR Card Role
The ABR card role performs the following functions:
• Supports ABR video profiles only.
• Requires video source from a slot number higher than this card, and that card must be in the Encode/Decode card role.
• Supports Seamless buffer mode only.
